Red Fern Bindery
Sole proprietor Linsey Goodenough Buchlis graduated from the University at Buffalo with a double major in both English and Art. She was introduced to the world of antiquarian books as a cataloger for Ernestoic Books, where she discovered there was a great need for bookbinding. From the very first moment she stepped into a bindery, she knew that she had found her calling.
She received her training in hand bookbinding at the Light of Day Bindery in Asheville, North Carolina under Dea Sasso. During her apprenticeship, she was taught both old and new practices in the realm of bookbinding including sewing and binding techniques, archival and reversible adhesives and procedures, and how to make books from scratch. She has recently finished a leather intensive course where she focused solely on fine leather bindings.
The Red Fern Bindery is nestled on the west hill of historic Clarence Hollow in Western New York. We share a roof with Ernestoic Books, and operate as their in-house bookbinder. They have a wonderful selection of rare and antiquarian books which can be browsed at www.ernestoicbooks.com.
